Going for Extraordinary
What is your definition of success? Have you really taken the time to think about it? Those 5 P's...
What if you did what you were passionate about, and what gave you a sense of purpose? If your work gave you a
mission and gave your life meaning? Would you naturally work harder, enjoy it more and have a greater chance of
fulfilling your potential? You and your business would grow bigger faster in ways that work for you.
Yes. Of course, having it be profitable makes it sustainable and allows you to be free to continue and create a thriving existence
for your self. These aren't goals to reach, they are ways to live each day, they are the possibility... they are going for
extraordinary.
Passion
What will light you up? In life we often go for what we think we can have based upon the past and on present circumstances.
What about going for what you really want? Going for goals that are worthy of you and your life? It's not always changing your
business but changing your niche or target. Changing the way you do things, who you work with that can create greater passion
through the work you're doing. And, going for something big enough that really lets you know that you believe in yourself! Putting
these together and going for them, is an Extraordinary journey that makes life exciting, makes you come alive.
- What are You Passionate About? What do you love? What ignites you? And what is a big enough
goal/ambition that will light you up?
Purpose
What work will matter to you? What will give your life meaning, a sense of purpose and pride. What work/mission will you
value so much that your work will feel fulfilling and build your self esteem? Again, this could be the specific work you do or your
business practices. (In passion and purpose I think about Ben & Jerry's because they had a product that most of us wouldn't see
an opportunity to make a difference or change an industry but they did.) What could you do that would give you, and your
employees, a mission and make your work really worthwhile and worth your life?
- What is it that you feel strongly about, that matters to you? What do you value? What do you want to bring
into the world? What do you want to do with your life to make it meaningful and something you feel great
about?
Profit
How will the business profit you - financial and personally (the impact of it on your life)? Profit is about the money. If
you are doing work you love, with purpose but not making money it's not sustainable and will rarely inspire and empower for long.
Profit is also not just about the money. It's about valuing you, your time and talent, knowing others are capable and coming up
with solutions that work and benefit everyone. It's about having a prosperity consciousness. (Check out social-entrepreneurism to
really wrap your brain around this.)
- Is What Your Doing Profitable? Are you valuing you and your product, believing in you, asking for what you
want and are worth? Are you seeing your potential clients as capable and able? Is what you're doing
profiting you - is it building your spirit, does it add value to your life?
Potential
What will help you reach your potential? If you are working at something that you are passionate about, that you enjoy and
value, that gives your life a purpose, you will be much more apt to reach your potential, to really succeed in life - professionally
and personally. We can work hard for the status quo or good, or we can work toward great. Having real "you" goals and building a
life (work, relationships, health, etc.) that are something to be proud of, really truly in your heart and soul to be proud of, that
builds a life and empowers you, keeps you healthy and full... that leads to great in all areas of your life.
- Who do you want to be? How do you want to be? How big do you want to play? What is the real potential of
your...everything... Go for that.
Possibilities
What really is possible? I don't know if possibilities should go first or last... in my Five Steps To Your Right Livelihood
workshops possibilities is the first step because people get caught in thinking that what they want isn't possible. And it comes up
again at the end of the workshop when we've come up with new ideas and people are thinking about what they could be and do.
The possibilities are endless.
- What is Possible for You? Not just going where the road may lead but creating your own path, being open to
what might be, to what you can do, and being open to your way. What really is possible in the world... and
not limiting yourself by the past. What is possible for you, for business in general, for our world?
The answers to those questions are your personal definition of success. If you lived these, how would that impact your
life - personally and professionally? What would that do for you? Remember, if you do what you love and what matters to you,
you will naturally be more successful...how successful is up to you.
The truth of you is that you are magnificent and capable of great things in your life... that's not in question. The
question is... what will you do with your magnificence?

Leaders are not just in a
given "position of power".
Leaders are people not
following, not in the
heard, not living the
status quo.
Leaders are individuals,
groups, and companies
using their heart and soul
as well as their brain,
knowing there is a better
way and leading us to it,
by example.
Leaders empower,
inspire, create new paths,
new ways, and build.
American business needs
Good leaders... leadership
based upon the golden
rule.
We can make a
difference? The question
is... will we?
Making this difference will
not only change our world
for the better, long and
short term, it will change
our present day lives...
our personal self esteem,
our sense of community,
our relationships.
How would it impact your
life to work at something
that you consider of great
value, to do what you
know is right based upon
your values not society's,
to stand for what you
believe, and to be who
you know you can be?
