| What is your definition of success? Have you really taken the time to think about what success is for you? We all have a different personal definition of success. When I talk about true success I think of the 5 P's: Possibility, Passion, Purpose, Potential and Profit. What would happen if you were open to the possibilities before you? If you did what you were passionate about and what gave you a sense of purpose, gave your life meaning and expressed what you value? Would you naturally work harder, enjoy it more and have a greater chance of fulfilling your potential? Yes. And of course, having it be profitable makes it sustainable and allows you to be free to continue and create a thriving existence for you. So... 1. What is Possible for You? Not just going where the road may lead but creating your own path, being open to what might be, to what you can do, and being open to your way. What really is possible in the world... and not limiting yourself, what is possible for you? (Check out my Resources page for inspiration.) 2. What are You Passionate About? What do you love? What ignites you? ("Success Built to Last" by Porras, Emery & Thompson is great book on this. Think about what Jimmy Carter accomplished after his presidency.) 3. What Is Your Purpose? What Matters to You? What do you value? What gives your life meaning? What do you want to bring into the world? What do you want to do with your life to make it meaningful and something you feel great about? 4. What Is Your Potential? Who do you want to be? How do you want to be? How big do you want to play? Remember, if you do what you love and what matters to you, you will naturally be more successful...how successful is up to you. 5. Is What Your Doing Profitable? Yes, "profit" is money, and it's something more... is what you're doing profiting you - is it building your spirit, does it add value to your life? (Here's an Adversity Doctor's Secret - the adversity of needing money often causes people to push past their self imposed limits. That's a great thing.) The answers to those questions are your personal definition of success. If you had all of these, how would that impact your life - personally and professionally? What would that do for you? I was talking to a friend at the end of a very inspiring conversation and I said, I want to be successful because I want to have the experience of believing in myself and what I do so much that I allow myself to succeed... I want to love and believe in my self that much. What is your mission? What do you want to do with your life? What would make you feel great about who you are? What step can you take today to start on this path? For support with this, sign up for my newsletter, and -coming soon- download my free e-book and/or come to my workshop: "Beyond Adversity...
